Tayata Om

Hey, it’s Michael bringing you volume 3 of the Serenity Saga. Before we start, thanks for taking the time to listen, and be sure to visit zen-egg.com for research surrounding the episode.

(Let’s begin with the Theravada concept of Nirvana. Nirvana is not a heaven we spawn into, it’s a state we open ourselves up to.

Today’s mantra, Tayata Om, translates into English as “You must be present to heal from the past and move forward effortlessly”. The phrase communicates the power of forgiveness. When we forgive others for wrongdoing, we can truly let go of emotional baggage and move forward.

When thinking about a good business blurb for today. My mind wafted to one of the last books I’ve read, Bezonomics by Brian Dumaine. In the chapter titled The 10,000 Year Man, Dumaine details how vision made Jeff Bezos the world's 3rd richest man.

Jeff looks past failures as opportunities for growth. Risky projects such as the Amazon Fire Phone or post-dot-com bubble acquisitions have flopped. However, others, including AWS and the company's purchase of the failing Washington Post, have paid off tenfold. Becoming aware of our mistakes while choosing to push forward can help anyone feel more accomplished.
