Mahamuni Shakyamuniye

Hey, it’s Michael bringing you my afternoon thoughts. Before we begin, thank you for listening, and be sure to visit our website linked in the description for the lore surrounding the episode. Earlier today,

I rushed into the office, fearing that five minutes of tardiness could harm my reputation. Shortly after arriving, I realized that no one truly cares. So, why did I feel so much anxiety? Aside from one mistake during training, my job performance has been positive. Upon further reflection, I’ve pinpointed the source of my fears. If my coworkers see me in a negative light, it would mean I’m being rejected. Rejection is a familiar feeling in my life; it has changed how I see others and, ultimately, how they view me.

present moment, wonderful moment

After work, I decided to visit the Dinh Quang temple. During the evening meditation service, I repeated a series of mantras. Today's most impactful words are Present Moment, Wonderful Moment. This simple mantra helped me snap out of my headspace and fully engage with the atmosphere around me. As we go about our lives, I believe it can be beneficial to remember how a simplistic approach to living can open the gates to beautiful moments. Following the reading of scripture, I had the opportunity to attend dharma class. Listening to the day-to-day experiences of followers helped put my problems into perspective.

When thinking about a business blurb for the day, my mind drifted to the story of Bill Gates. Microsoft was founded due to Gates's passion for software. Spending time playing with computers as a child fueled Bill's obsession with them as an adult. His brilliance, paired with tactful decision-making, allowed Bill Gates to become one of the world's richest men.

Reflecting on personal successes and failures can be just as meaningful as reading about others' triumphs. Reflection allows us to derive lessons from our mistakes and set motivational intentions for future actions. In my life, this translates to making a deeper effort to truly appreciate the people I interact with. Thanks for spending a few precious minutes tuning in.
